HAPPY MIDSUMMER – GLAD MIDSOMMAR
Now you might wonder what I am on about, Happy Midsummer?!….when it’s in the middle of winter in Australia?
Well, some of you might be aware of that I am from Sweden. I moved to Australia about 19 years ago.
Today, all Swedes will celebrate Midsummer. This is when we dance around the Midsummer “Fertility Tree”, eat lots of yummy food and enjoy the light that stays all night long.
Well, in Australia, this day is the shortest but it’s still worth celebrating. I think it is time for a glass of wine and some yummy food and perhaps a dance around the cottage.
Where ever you are in the world, have an extra special Swedish Midsummer’s Day!
Love, Karin

I hope it was a Happy MidSummer day for you and your kids. Is that a photo of your beautiful daughter?
Hi Jane, We had a lovely Midsommer and the cake was very yummy. This photo is not of my beautiful daughter. Thanks.
Great to see what happens in Sweden at Mid Sommer. On the other side of the planet we have our own Winter Solstice at Danawa Community Gardens in Torquay around a roaring fire. See you next term.
It’s a wonderful word we live in with all the different traditions, isn’t it?
