Karin’s Childhood

I was born in Halmstad, at Halmstad BB, in Halmstad on the 22nd of August 1969. Halmstad it s city of the West Coast in the County Halland in Sweden. I was the younger sister of Peter that was born 2 1/2 years earlier. In the photo below i am on the way home from the hospital in Sweden.

I turned out to be a blond little girl but it did take a long time until that hair started to thicken. I think my parents was a bit worried that I was not going to get any. Anyway, by the time ot the age of one, I had a spendid hairstyle – very low maintenance – as no hairstyling products was needed. Here I am outside out house in Halmstad – age 1.

I have so many good memories from growing up as a child. Some really stick in your memory. One of the earliest memories I have is when I received a orange coloured Teddybear for my fourth birthday. I can remember how happy I was. I also received the cane chair that I am sitting in. I thought life was pretty good.

I spent my childhood playing lots in Halmstad with my brother Peter and also all of the friends we had around the block. We were always busy with “projects” such as digging out our sandpit as we wanted to get to China  – as we thought that was the opposite of the world (Sweden). We were so busy, no time to get bored. We were spending lots of time outdoors – rain, hail, sunshine or snow! So many good memories. I cannot remember that we spent that much time inside, TV was something that we hardly ever watched. I loved playing in our garden, planting vegetables, flowers and building tree houses. Here is my brother Peter and me in out garden at Engelbrektsgatan in Halmstad.
